American singer and songwriter Kelly Rowland has paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Roberta Flack, after her passing on Monday 24 February 2025.
Roberta flack, renowned for her soulful voice, was the artist behind the iconic hit Killing Me Softly With His Song. In addition to this timeless classic, she also gained widespread recognition for other memorable tracks, including the romantic ballad The First Time I Saw Your Face, and the sultry Feel Like Makin’ Love.
Taking to her Instagram, Kelly penned a heartfelt message honouring the late Roberta Flack.
In her post, Kelly reflected on Flack’s remarkable legacy and the deep influence the legendary singer had on her own music career.
“My heart just sank!! Our Dear Ms.Roberta Flack has ascended beyond but what beauty she has left us with!! THANK YOU for your effortless, most beautiful gift!
THANK YOU for being a part of the soundtrack to the most tender moments in my life! So Grateful for you!,” she wrote.
Kelly turns 44
On a lighter side of things, Kelly recently celebrated her 44th birthday, marking another milestone in her incredible journey. Surrounded by love and support, she received warm wishes from family, friends, fans, and industry colleagues who took to her Instagram page to celebrate her special day.
Taking to her own Instagram page as well, Kelly shared playful pictures of herself posing with large balloons marked the number 44, symbolising the age she celebrated.


Celebrating a special day with special people
Still in the spirit of birthday celebration, Kelly made sure to include her two childhood best friends, Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams, in the festivities.
The trio is best known for their time in the iconic group Destiny’s Child, which rose to fame in the late 1990s. The group first gained mainstream recognition with their breakthrough hit No,No,No, paving the way for their rise in the music industry.
Their best-selling second album, The Writing’s On The Wall, released in 1999, solidified their status as global superstars and it featured chart-topping hits like Bills, Bills, Bills, and Say My Name.
Celebrating her bestie’s birthday, Beyoncé took to Instagram to share a series of heartwarming pictures of the trio, as well as special moments between her and the birthday girl, Kelly.
