American singer and songwriter Anthony Hamilton is heartbroken over the passing of the legendary R&B and Grammy-nominated musician Angie Stone, who died in a car accident on Saturday, 1 March 2025, at the age of 63.
Stone rose to fame in the 1970s as a member of the all-female hip-hop trio The Sequence and was best known for her hit song, No More Rain.
According to a news release from the Alabama Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:25 am on Interstate 65 when a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van overturned and was subsequently struck by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck driven by a 33-year-old Texas man. Angie Stone was pronounced dead at the scene while all the other passengers in the van survived.
Angie stone’s passing comes shortly just after the loss of another music icon, Roberta Flack, who died on 24 February 2025.

Anthony Hamilton shared his sorrow over Angie Stone’s passing by posting a heartfelt tribute on his Instagram account.
The two artists had a history of collaboration, including their 2004 duet Stay For A While, which was featured in Stone’s third album, Stone Love.
Honouring her legacy and impact, Hamilton penned an emotional message, writing:
“Queen! Angie. I’m devastated. Sending prayers and love to your family, children, and the millions who loved you. You will forever be in our hearts, Fly high my Soul Sista,” he wrote.

Not only did Hamilton write a deeply saddening post for Angie Stone, but he also shared heartfelt photos of them together, both personal and from their time performing together on stage.
