The internationally celebrated Ndlovu Youth Choir has unveiled a striking new rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, originally performed by Queen.
This release marks a historic milestone as the first translated version of the iconic song ever officially approved by Queen’s surviving members, Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Sung in isiZulu, the choir’s interpretation honors the original’s emotion, drama, and complexity—while adding their unique touch of African harmonies and vibrant spirit.

The release of Bohemian Rhapsody comes as the Ndlovu Youth Choir prepares for another exciting milestone—their upcoming 2025 Heritage Tour. Set to take place this September, the tour promises a dynamic celebration of South African music, dance, and unity, reaching audiences across the country. While the Choir has become known for selling out shows in major cities, this journey is their most ambitious local effort to date, with a special emphasis on connecting with smaller towns and underserved communities. For many, it will be the first chance to experience the Choir’s full-scale international production live—right in their own hometown.

Radiating excitement, Choir Master Ralf Schmitt captured the spirit of the moment as he spoke on behalf of the group:

The rise of Ndlovu Youth Choir and their path to fame
Originating from the small village of Moutse in Limpopo, the Ndlovu Youth Choir has risen from rural South Africa to perform on some of the world’s most prestigious stages—including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and America’s Got Talent.
Their vibrant African sound, rich harmonies, and electrifying performances have earned them international recognition. Along the way, they’ve teamed up with global stars like P!nk and Kygo, collaborated with major brands such as Disney and Netflix, and contributed to raising over $5 million USD for UNICEF.
