His clothing brand, Sompire, has been making powerful waves. What started as a kids’ line has grown into a full-fledged fashion label, showcasing at major events like Free State Fashion Week and even New York Fashion Week.
Now, Somizi is bringing that same creative energy to one of South Africa’s most beloved music icons — Judith Sephuma. With her upcoming album When Winter Fades dropping on 31 October 2025, she tapped Somizi to design her show-stopping wardrobe.
The album is an emotional eight-track experience centered on healing, strength, and hope after hardship. It strives to inspire and comfort listeners, inviting them to accept life’s ever-changing nature and discover beauty in its transformations.
The creative process
Somizi took to his Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes look at the creation process, posting a video of the dresses while they were still coming together.
In his caption, he opened up about feeling a whirlwind of emotions — from pure excitement at designing for a music legend like Judith Sephuma, to a sense of disbelief that he actually did it… and nailed it!

“Sometime I wish I could see myself the way my friends see me. Coz when @judithsephuma asks me to design dresses for her upcoming album sleeve I’m like are u crazy. I’m still a student. And she insisted. We are talking about thee Judith. Multi award winning platinum selling musician. With a career spanning over 2 decades. Well I had to tap into my fearlessness gear and take the risk. And it was worth it. Thanks to @masangobonginkosi for holding my hand through this experience. And thanks Judith for believing in me.
“Now I can’t wait to lay my hands on this album. She poured her heart and soul into it. Self produced and funded. Boss move. @moosas_fabrics what more can I say but to say u keep doing the things,” wrote Somizi.
