About Benny Maverick
For those just getting to know him, Benny Maverick’s rise in the music scene is a story of hustle, heart, and undeniable talent.
His journey kicked off back in 2008, when a young and ambitious DJ set out to make waves in Durban’s buzzing nightlife. With bookings hard to come by, Benny took matters into his own hands and launched Goodsundae — a Sunday party series that quickly became one of the city’s most loved urban youth events.

Benny’s impact runs deep
But it was in 2017 that things really took off, when he dropped the infectious hit Memeza featuring Dladla Mshunqisi. The track lit up dance floors across the country and played a key role in the breakout success of the SAMA-winning anthem Omunye by Distruction Boyz.
Fast forward to 2021, Benny teamed up with DJ Stanky (Sizamavezi Kweyama) to form Kweyama Brothers. Together, they delivered the Platinum-certified Mpumalanga EP and the globally praised album Piano Over Poverty in 2022 — a project that not only dominated local charts but also earned them gigs across Europe, further cementing their international appeal.
But Benny isn’t just about the music. He’s also a creative entrepreneur shaking up the cultural scene. He’s the mastermind behind standout lifestyle experiences like Saso’s House — a sleek, high-energy event celebrating Durban’s urban culture — and the One Man Concert, his flagship Easter weekend show known for epic performances and top-tier production.
