So guys, as this unpredictable weather has really been doing the most, unfortunately, I ended up being one of its unlucky flu victims.
Yep, I caught the flu — Hahaha don’t ask me how, when, or why, because I honestly have no clue!
Anyway, since it’s day one of my battle with the sniffles, I decided to whip up my very own Flu-Fighter Healing Broth. And guess what? I’m already feeling a little better than I did when I woke up this morning.
So if you are also sniffling, sneezing, or just feeling off thanks to this crazy weather, give this recipe a try — it might just work its magic on you too!
Here’s how to make it:
How to make Asanda’s flu-fighter healing broth
Serves: 1-2 for a cosy dose of healing
Ingredients:
- 2 cups filtered water
- 1 small carrot, sliced thinly
- 1 small piece of fresh ginger (about 2–3 cm), sliced or lightly crushed
- 1 garlic clove, minced (for that immunity punch!)
- ½ small onion, chopped
- 1 small stick of cinnamon (optional, for warmth and soothing flavour)
- ½ tsp turmeric powder (or a small fresh turmeric slice)
- 1 tsp honey (optional, to soothe the throat)
- A squeeze of fresh lemon
- A small handful of fresh parsley or coriander, chopped
- Pinch of black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)
Method:
- Boil the base: In a small pot, pour in the water and add ginger, garlic, onion, carrot, cinnamon, and turmeric. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Simmer slowly: Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes. Allow the flavors to mingle and the vegetables to release their healing goodness.
- Strain or leave chunky: If you like, strain the broth, or leave the softened veggies in for extra nutrients.
- Add the finishing touches: Stir in honey (if using), a squeeze of lemon, black pepper, and sprinkle parsley or coriander.
- Sip slowly: Drink warm, take deep breaths, and let it comfort your body from the inside out.
Extra tips:
- You can add a small piece of chilli if your sinuses are blocked—it opens them up fast.
- Repeat 2–3 times a day while feeling under the weather.
- Pair with cozy socks and a warm blanket for maximum flu-fighting vibes.
