How to make tangy honey-garlic chicken bites
Serves: 2-3
- 500g boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-size chunks
- 2 tablespoons flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or any cooking oil)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
- Fresh parsley or coriander for garnish
Method:
- Prep the chicken: Season chicken with salt, pepper, and a light dusting of flour — just enough to coat it lightly.
- Sear it: Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- Make the sauce: In the same pan, lower the heat. Add butter and minced garlic — sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Stir in honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and chili flakes. Let it bubble for a minute.
- Coat and glaze: Return the chicken to the pan and toss it in the sauce until glossy and sticky — about 3–4 minutes.
- Finish strong: Sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving.
Serve with:
*Steamed jasmine rice
*Potato wedges
*Or a light side salad with cucumber and tomato for freshness
Asanda’s tip:
*If you like extra sauce, double the honey, soy, and lemon mix — it turns into the perfect drizzle for rice or bread.
