With these words, President Cyril Ramaphosa took the oath of office on Wednesday 20 June, 2024 in a momentous inauguration ceremony held in Pretoria. The Ramaphosa inauguration drew a vibrant crowd and an array of dignitaries, signalling a pivotal moment for South Africa.

Notable attendees was Zimbabwean leader Emmerson Munangagwa, who is set to assume the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Committee (Sadc), a regional economic block. Arriving to a rather quieter reception, the Zimbabwean leader is under pressure back home where he is accused of rigging in the 2023 election against nemesis, Nelson Chamisa.
