Ingredients:
- 2 cups of macaroni
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 500g minced beef (or any mince of your choice)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon of salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 can (400g) chopped tomatoes or ½ cup of tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon of mixed herbs (or dried oregano/basil)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup of grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- ½ cup of milk (optional, for creaminess)
Method:
- Cook the Macaroni: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Mince: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant. Then add the minced beef and cook until browned.
- Add flavour: Stir in the chopped tomatoes (or tomato sauce). Add paprika, mixed herbs, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Combine everything: Add the cooked macaroni to the mince mixture and stir well. If you want it extra creamy, add the milk until combined.
- Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and let it melt. You can either mix it in or pop the dish under a grill for a few minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Serve and Enjoy: Garnish with fresh herbs (optional) and serve warm.
Note: This dish can be enjoyed as is, or with a side salad.
