Happy FriYAY! Fun fact: Fridays are not for heavy meals-they are for light, feel-good bites that set the perfect mood for an amazing weekend ahead! And what’s better than some juicy homemade sticky chicken wings recipe to kick off your Friday night? Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients for the recipe

  • ¼ cup of tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup of barbeque sauce
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tsp spicy barbeque seasoning or smoked paprika
  • 12 (1Kg) chicken wings, cut in half at joint
  • 1 Kg of frozen potato wedges

Method

  1. Whisk tomato sauce, barbeque sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sugar seasoning and salt and pepper in a jug.
  2. Place chicken wings in a large, shallow ceramic dish. Pour over marinade and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate, turning occasionally, for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Place chicken wings in a single layer on 1 tray and potato wedges on remaining tray. Place chicken in top shelf, with potatoes underneath. Roast chicken wings and potatoes, turning once, for 25 to 30 minutes or until crisp and golden.

Recipe notes

Spicy barbeque seasoning is a blend of spices usually including black pepper, coriander and paprika and it is located in the spice aisle at the supermarket.

Hint:

Marinate the wings in a sealed plastic bag. It saves fridge space and washing up! You can serve it with salad.
