For four decades, Linah ‘Ebony’ Ngcobo has been a defining force in South African music, captivating audiences with timeless hits like I Need Somebody, released in 1984 and I Don’t Need You/ Ooh La La Hop, released in 1987.

Her influence has shaped the industry, inspiring both her peers and a new generation of artists.

Now, as she marks this incredible milestone, fans will gather at Meropa Sun International on 29 March 2025, for a night of celebration.

The event promises electrifying performances, heartfelt tributes, and special guest appearances.

Reflection on the 40 year journey in the music industry

In an exclusive interview with Africa Jamz FM News, Ebony looks back on her 40-year journey in music, sharing her proudest moments along the way.

“My proudest moment is when I saw my parents celebrating with me, especially my mom who did not want me to be a musician. She used to beat me up because she wanted me to be something else. So when she saw that I was not backing off, she then became my greatest fan and support system of whatever I was doing as I proved her wrong, may her soul rest in peace,” said Ebony.
