The story behind VALENCIA
Talking about the motivation and personal story woven into the album, Benny revealed:
“This project is one that is very special to me because it’s named after my mother, Valencia – giving her flowers while she’s still here, while she can still smell them. Valencia means strength, and that explains who I am and the strength I have drawn from watching my mother raise two boys as a single parent on a teacher’s salary. This album is a dedication to her – to her resilience, her love, and her legacy.
“We have got an incredible lineup of producers and artists who helped bring this project to life – Triple X Da Ghost, Effected, Ntwana R, JazzWrld, Thukuthela, Orchid Musiq, and Aidah. The sound is deeply inspired by old-school house compilations – Fresh House Flava, Soul Candi, and DJ Claude – music that makes you feel something. VALENCIA is soulful, timeless, and meant to sound like an expensive piece of art. My message is simple: no matter how many times life knocks you down, it’s about how you get back up and keep leveling up,” said Benny.
