Amapiano heavyweight and hitmaker DJ Kelvin Momo had fans talking this past weekend — but not for the reasons you would expect.

The producer was a no-show at his much-anticipated gig at Sun City on Saturday, 16 August 2025, leaving fans and organisers equally stunned.

Feeling the heat, DJ Momo took to Instagram to clear the air and publicly apologise.

In a humble statement, he addressed the situation and shared what really went down behind the scenes that led to him missing the event.

Here’s what he had to say:

Sun City issues apology following DJ Momo’s No-Show

Before DJ Momo’s apology, Sun City had already broken the bad news on Instagram the very same day— and it wasn’t the kind of announcement anyone wanted. Just a straight-up “Kelvin Momo will not perform tonight” post that left fans shocked and disappointed.

Here’s what they wrote:

“We regret to inform our valued guests that ‘Kelvin Momo’ will not perform at our OUTSIDE event, on the 16th of August 2025 as he has not arrived for the show despite being contracted, booked and paid for.

“Neither Momo nor his manager have responded to any of Sun City’s requests for an update. We along with our partners have exhausted every avenue possible to ensure that he performs.

“For any ticket queries, please contact Ticketpro. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused as a result of the unprofessional and poor conduct of the artist concerned which is beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” they wrote.

History repeating itself?

Well, according to some netizens, this news didn’t exactly come as a shock. Many claimed they have been down this road before — and by the looks of it, this isn’t the first time DJ Kelvin Momo has missed a show.

In the comments section of Sun City Resort’s Instagram post, fans chimed in with their thoughts. While there wasn’t much outrage, many pointed out that they weren’t surprised — throwing subtle shade and hinting that DJ Momo has a history of bailing on gigs.
