JUST IN: Excellence Awards returns with new categories and transparent voting process

After the successful hosting of the inaugural Excellence Awards, Africa Jamz FM has announced the highly anticipated second edition of the Africa Jamz FM Excellence Awards.

In a press release, Africa Jamz FM’s director, Chikomo Patsika, unveiled the latest installment of the prestigious awards ceremony. Building upon the triumph of the first edition, this year’s awards promise to be even more spectacular, with the addition of new categories that further embrace the station’s commitment to celebrating excellence in music, community, and social influence.

Resounding success

Last year’s inaugural awards ceremony was a resounding success, drawing attention from across the continent and beyond. At the Excellence Awards, last year 2023, the Celebrity of the Year category, in particular, captured the public’s imagination, with nominees ranging from renowned musicians to beloved actors and social activists.

The MC of the Year award recognised the charismatic hosts who keep audiences engaged and entertained, while the Best Hangout Place of the Year celebrated the vibrant spaces that serve as cultural hubs within our community.

New award categories

“This year, with the addition of new categories such as Dancer of the Year and Hustler of the Year, the Excellence Awards promise to be even more diverse and inclusive, reflecting the ever-evolving landscape of our culture and society. The Dancer of the Year category will honor the talented individuals who bring our music to life through their mesmerising movements, while the Hustler of the Year award will recognize those who demonstrate exceptional resilience and determination in pursuing their dreams,” Patsika said.

He said in addition to celebrating individual excellence, the Africa Jamz FM Excellence Awards also shine a spotlight on community leaders and organisations making a positive impact in our society.

The Uniter of the Year award honours those who foster unity and understanding within our community, while the Transporter of the Year recognises the essential role played by individuals in keeping our community connected through transportation services.

“Of course, at the heart of the Excellence Awards lies our passion for music. The Artist of the Year award celebrates the musicians whose songs have become the soundtrack of our lives, while the DJ of the Year recognizes the skill and artistry of the DJs who keep us dancing all night long. The Best Newcomer of the Year category highlights emerging talents who are poised to make a significant mark on the industry, while the Producer of the Year award pays tribute to the creative minds behind the scenes who shape the sound of our generation,” Patsika said.

Transparent voting system

“As we eagerly await the announcement of this year’s nominees and the upcoming awards ceremony, Africa Jamz FM invites all listeners to join us in celebrating the rich tapestry of talent, culture, and community that defines our station. Just as with last year a voting link will be provided where nominees can be voted for.

“Our system is transparent, you can even see who is leading and by how many votes. To be considered one has to be nominated.” he said.

All nominations can be submitted on the Africa Jamz FM Facebook Page. Nominations will close at the end of June, 2024, with voting set to commence for 90 days. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday 28 September 2024.
