HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY, FAM!

And heyyy… happy last Friday of November 2025!

While half of South Africa is currently sprinting through store aisles, fighting trolleys, hunting specials, and stocking up for Dezemba vibes… the rest of us are at home, doing the real magic — cooking up something delicious and turning this Friday into a whole mood.

Fam, I woke up this morning extra happy, super inspired, and ready to whip up something yummy for us!

So guess what? I made Black Friday Blackened Chicken Wraps. Yes, yes, we have had wraps before — this house LOVES a good wrap — but THIS one? Yoh. This one is different. It’s giving flavour, it’s giving spice, it’s giving “that thing” that hits just right!

So let’s celebrate Black Friday the best way we know how — in our own style, with good food and good vibes.

Enjoy, Fam!

How to make Black Friday Blackened Chicken Wraps

Ingredients:

For the Blackened Chicken:

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Wrap:

  • 3–4 tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • ½ cup grated cheese (optional)

For the Black Friday Drizzle:

  • ¼ cup plain yoghurt or mayo
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp black pepper (to keep the “black” theme)

Method:

  1. Prepare the Blackening Spice Mix: In a bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, oregano, cayenne, salt and pepper.
  2. Season the Chicken: Rub chicken with olive oil, then coat heavily in the spice mix (don’t be shy — the “blackened” crust needs it).
  3. Pan-Sear the Chicken: Heat a pan on medium-high. Cook chicken 5–6 minutes per side until it forms a dark, smoky crust. Let it rest, then slice into strips.
  4. Make the Black Friday Drizzle: Mix yoghurt/mayo, lemon juice, honey, and black pepper.
  5. Build Your Wraps: Layer: lettuce → tomato → onion → avocado → chicken. Drizzle generously. Roll tightly.
  6. Serve: Cut diagonally. Serve with lemon wedges or a tiny dipping bowl of extra drizzle.
