The inspiration behind Oluwa

As the conversation with Dalom Kids got rolling, we dived straight into the heart of their song Oluwa, a track rooted in faith and perseverance. The group opened up about the personal experiences and key moments in their journey that shaped the message behind the song and inspired its powerful meaning.

“As Dalom Kids, our journey has always been deeply connected to faith, perseverance, and gratitude. Growing up around music and witnessing both the highs and challenges that come with the industry has taught us that success is never guaranteed without faith and hard work. Oluwa was inspired by those moments where you realise that despite obstacles, there is a greater purpose guiding your path. The song reflects our belief that with faith in God, persistence, and humility, anything is possible,” said the group.

Carrying the Dalom legacy into a new generation

Dalom Kids have built a legacy that spans generations in South African music. As the conversation continued, they shared how Oluwa reflects not only the group’s rich musical history, but also the fresh direction they are embracing in their sound today.

Dalom Kids are proud to carry forward a musical legacy that has meant so much to so many people over the years. With Oluwa, we wanted to respect the roots of that legacy while also embracing the sound and energy of the current generation. The song blends the spirit of traditional Dalom music with modern influences, allowing us to stay connected to the history while also evolving creatively. It represents both where we come from and where we are going,” said the group.

How Professor, Tee Jay and Novika added their unique flavour

The single also features an exciting collaboration with Professor, Tee Jay, and Novika. Dalom Kids shared how these artists came to be part of Oluwa, and the unique energy and flavour each of them brought to the track.

“The collaboration came together very naturally. Once the song was created, the artists heard it and really connected with the message and the sound. They liked the song and were happy to be part of it. Each artist brought their own unique energy and style, which added depth and personality to the track and made the collaboration feel authentic,” said the group.
