On this Monday, I want to ask a question that many of us avoid: Who heals a broken healer? We live in a world where the strong are expected to keep standing, the helpers are expected to keep giving, and the ones who carry others are often forgotten when they themselves begin to fall apart. We celebrate the person who always has encouraging words. We lean on the friend who listens without judgment. We admire the one who brings light into dark places. But rarely do we stop and ask: How are they really doing? Who checks on them when their own heart feels heavy? The truth is, even healers bleed. The healer also needs healing Even the person who gives advice can struggle to follow their own words. Even the person who brings comfort can have moments where they need comfort themselves. Even the person who reminds others to have faith can experience seasons where their own faith is tested. I know this because I am also a broken healer. I have offered words of strength while fighting silent battles. I have encouraged others while needing encouragement myself. I have reminded people that storms pass while learning how to survive my own. The beauty found in the cracks But perhaps brokenness does not disqualify us from helping others. Perhaps it makes us more compassionate. Perhaps the cracks in our hearts allow us to understand the pain of others on a deeper level. There is a difference between being perfect and being present. Sometimes the most powerful people are not those who have never fallen, but those who have fallen, risen, and still choose to show kindness. They understand pain because they have carried it. They recognise wounds because they have had their own. The healer of the broken healer To those who are always there for everyone else: remember that you are also someone worth caring for. You are also someone worth checking on. You are also someone who deserves grace. And for those who believe in God, perhaps the answer to the question is this: The broken healer is healed by the one who sees the wounds they hide, which is our Lord Jesus Christ. The healer must also become the healed So today, check on the ones who always check on you. Love the ones who always pour into others. And if you are the broken healer, remember this: Even the strongest souls need somewhere to rest.
