South African actress Phindile Gwala recently revealed that she was hospitalised after becoming seriously ill, an experience that shook her family since she rarely gets sick. On her Instagram page, she shared her reflections on the ordeal and emphasised the importance of health and gratitude for life. Phindile described the severity of her illness, noting that at one point she could not speak and had to rely on her 18-year-old daughter for assistance before being taken to hospital. She also mentioned a new stomach illness spreading in an airborne manner, similar to COVID-19, which affects people differently, with some experiencing mild symptoms and others more severe. She shared her story to express gratitude to her family, friends, and supporters who checked in on her during this time. In her own words, she wrote: “The past few days reminded me how precious life really is. I was admitted to hospital after getting very sick. For someone who hardly ever gets sick, this really shook my family. The day I was admitted I was vomiting nonstop, even popping blood, and I couldn’t even speak. My 18-year-old daughter had to bathe me before I was taken to hospital…something I will never forget. “There is a new stomach illness going around, it spreads like COVID (airborne). It varies from person to person, some people experience mild symptoms, but mine were very severe. I’m sharing this because I’m incredibly grateful to be here today. Grateful for life, for my family, friends and for everyone who checked on me. Please be safe out there and protect your loved ones. Health is something we often take for granted until it shakes us. I love you all. God bless,” wrote Phindile.
