Happy Wednesday, my people!

We have officially hit the middle of the week — aka survival mode — and in this house, it just so happens to be payday. And you already know what that means… suddenly nobody remembers where the kitchen is and Uber Eats is calling our names like a long-lost lover.

But hold on, hold on! Before we go and spend our entire salary in one sitting, let’s act like we have got sense for just a moment. Instead of buying food like we are rich-rich, we are about to cook something so good it will make you forget takeout even exists.

Now that I have gathered you all for our very important (and highly delicious) midweek food meeting, let’s get straight to today’s agenda…

The star of the show: Cheesy Russian-Stuffed Bread Rolls

Listen… I woke up this morning with one mission and one mission only: I needed a Russian. And in this household, when the craving hits, we don’t ignore it — we turn it into a full production. Because if I’m eating good, my online family should eat good too. Period.

So rest assured, this meal will make sure you save your money in every way.

Now let me show you how to do it.

How to make Cheesy Russian-Stuffed Bread Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 4 bread rolls (or hot dog buns)
  • 2 russians, sliced lengthwise
  • ½ cup grated cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
  • ¼ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Method:

  1. Prepare the russians: Slice the russians lengthwise, then lightly fry them in a pan with a little butter until slightly golden.
  2. Make the creamy mix: In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, tomato sauce, and mustard.
  3. Prepare the rolls: Cut the bread rolls open (not all the way through).
  4. Assemble:
*Spread the creamy sauce inside each roll.
    *Add a russian slice.
    *Sprinkle chopped onion.
    *Top with grated cheese.
  5. Bake: Place the filled rolls on a tray and bake at 180°C for 10–12 minutes until the cheese melts and the bread is slightly crispy.
