The record blends the rhythmic sensibilities of Bongo Flava with the smooth textures of R&B, creating a sensual and melodic offering built around romance, feeling and atmosphere. Marioo’s contribution adds an established East African voice to the record, bringing together two artists at different stages of their journeys through a shared musical language. Malaika and Marioo unite through music Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Malaika shared: “My Fever is a very special record for me because it introduces people to who I am as an artist. I wanted to create something beautiful, sensual and honest—a song that makes people feel something. Growing up in South Africa while carrying my Tanzanian roots has shaped how I experience music, and I love that this record brings those influences together. This is the beginning of a journey I have been looking forward to sharing with the world,” said Malaika. The collaboration with Marioo gives the debut a strong connection to Tanzania’s established music scene. Known for his contribution to East African popular music, Marioo brings familiarity and musical heritage to a release that also introduces a fresh voice. The pairing reflects the ability of African music to travel across borders while retaining the cultural identity that makes it distinctive. “Working with Malaika on My Fever was a beautiful experience. There is something special about a record that allows you to connect with the feeling of the music, and this song has that quality. I am excited for people to hear what we have created together and to see Malaika introduce herself to the world through this record,” said Marioo. HAVE YOU READ THIS ONE?: The Wait Is Almost Over!
