Have you ever met someone who makes you wonder if there are secretly three versions of them running around at the same time?

One moment they are running a successful business, the next they are commanding attention on national television, and somewhere in between they are helping someone land a job, handing out sanitary packs to schoolgirls, or changing lives in communities that need it most.

That someone is Sendra Masiteng.

Most of us know Sendra as the powerhouse behind Sendra’s Beauty Palace in Randburg, and as the familiar face hosting the reality show Enough is Enough on Moja Love (DStv Channel 157). But if you think that’s where her story ends, you are in for a surprise!

Behind the entrepreneur and television personality is a woman whose diary probably needs its own diary—a woman who believes that success isn’t measured by what you collect for yourself, but by what you give back to others.

Now in this exclusive Q&A with Africa Jamz FM News, Sendra opens up about her journey from beauty boss to community champion, the life experiences that inspired her passion for helping others, the reality of juggling business, television, and philanthropy, and why changing lives will always matter more to her than simply chasing success.

Now let’s see what she had to say:

1. Sendra, your journey started in the beauty industry, but today your work extends far beyond beauty services. At what point did you realise that your platform could be used to impact people’s lives in a deeper way?

“I realised this when I started interacting with clients on a daily basis. Many women would come in for beauty services, but our conversations often went beyond hair and beauty. They would share their personal struggles, dreams, and challenges. I saw that sometimes what they needed most was encouragement, confidence, and someone who believed in them. That made me understand that my platform could be a space for empowerment and positive change, not just beauty treatments. From that moment, I became intentional about using my influence to uplift and inspire others,” said Sendra.

2. You have created opportunities, donated essentials, and supported young girls in your community. What personal experience or moment in your life shaped your desire to give back in this way?

“Growing up, I witnessed how a small act of kindness could completely change someone’s situation. There were moments when people extended a helping hand to me or to those around me, and those experiences stayed with me. I understand what it feels like to face challenges and wish someone would step in to help. That is why I am passionate about giving back. I believe that when we empower one person, we create a ripple effect that can positively impact families and entire communities.

“Many people see the glamour of being a business owner and TV personality, but behind the scenes, it comes with pressure and responsibility,” said Sendra.

3. What has been the most challenging part of balancing your business, media career, and community work?

“The biggest challenge has been managing time and ensuring that I give my best to every responsibility. Running a business requires constant attention, media commitments demand preparation and professionalism, and community work requires genuine involvement. Sometimes, there are not enough hours in the day. However, I remind myself why I started. Staying focused on my purpose and having a clear vision helps me maintain balance and continue moving forward,” said Sendra.

4. When you look at the women and young girls who have benefited from your initiatives, is there a specific story or moment that has stayed with you and reminded you why you started this journey?

“One of the moments that stays with me is when a young girl expressed how supported and valued she felt after receiving assistance and encouragement through one of our initiatives. Seeing her confidence grow and hearing her speak positively about her future reminded me that impact is not always measured by money or numbers. Sometimes, it is about restoring hope and helping someone believe in themselves again. Moments like that continue to motivate me to keep going,” said Sendra.

5. If someone walked into Sendra’s Beauty Palace for the first time, what would you want them to feel—not just about beauty, but about themselves and their potential?

I would want them to feel welcomed, valued, and confident. Beauty is not only about how you look; it is also about how you feel about yourself. I want every person who walks through our doors to leave feeling empowered, inspired, and reminded of their worth. My goal is for them to see that they are capable of achieving great things, and that beauty begins with self-belief, confidence, and embracing who they are,” said Sendra.
