Today is a brand-new Monday, the beginning of a brand-new week. For many of us, it feels like another opportunity to try again—to send out job applications, start a small business, chase a dream, or simply find the strength to keep moving forward. As I reflected this morning, I asked myself a simple question: What am I grateful for today? My answer came quickly. I am grateful for the gift of life. I am grateful that both of my parents are still alive. I am grateful for my sisters, my job, my health, and every person God has placed in my life. But above all, I am grateful for my relationship with God. The truth is, one of the greatest mistakes we make as human beings is focusing so much on what is going wrong that we completely overlook what God is quietly doing right. We magnify our struggles while minimising his blessings. The blessing of simply being alive Think about it for a moment. While we slept peacefully last night, someone somewhere was fighting for their life in a hospital bed. Someone received a phone call that changed their life forever. Someone lost a loved one. Someone never got the chance to wake up and see another sunrise. Yet here we are. Breathing. Living. Planning. Hoping. Given another day to try again. What if the blessing we have been asking God for is the very life we are living today? No, most of us do not have everything we want. We all carry burdens, disappointments, and unanswered prayers. But how often do we stop to thank God for what we already have? How often do we appreciate it while it is still ours? Recognising God’s hand in every everyday blessing The roof over your head—that is God’s grace. The food on your table—that is God’s provision. The clothes on your back—that is God’s faithfulness. The people who love and support you—that is God’s kindness. The breath in your lungs this very moment—that is God’s mercy. Today, I encourage you to pause and reflect on the blessings you may have overlooked. Look for God in the ordinary moments. See his hand in the small things. Remember that life is difficult for all of us, and every person is carrying a battle we cannot see. But through it all, God’s love remains constant. His grace continues to cover us. And perhaps the greatest blessing of all is knowing that we are loved by him despite our flaws, failures, and shortcomings. May that truth draw us closer to God today. May it fill us with gratitude, renew our hope, and lead us to repent, trust him more deeply, and never take his blessings for granted.
